Respawn’s Star Wars FPS Game Canceled – Report

Earlier today, Electronic Arts announced that it’ll be laying off 5% of its staff. On top of that, the company announced that it’d be moving away from certain games based on licensed IP, with Respawn’s upcoming FPS Star Wars game reportedly being canceled

Although EA doesn’t explicitly say that the canceled game was Respawn’s FPS Star Wars game, it’s worth pointing out that all signs point to that. Earlier this month, it was reported that the studio was working on a Star Wars Mandalorian game that would take place during the height of the Galactic Empire. Currently, this is the only game that seems to fit the description of what EA is describing.

The upcoming Mandalorian game was highly anticipated for various reasons. First and foremost, it was because it was being made by the same studio that worked on Titanfall 2, a game that was generally well-received. This, unfortunately, is a sad trend that EA has done in the past, canceling a game that Respawn was working on. According to a former developer, the studio had been working on Titanfall 3 for ten months before EA canceled it.
