New Pokemon Monopoly Includes Cute Figures, Releases Just In Time For Christmas
Hasbro has launched a few versions of Pokemon Monopoly over the years, but most are now out of stock or only available at marked-up prices via third-party retailers–meaning you’d have to drop close to $50 to add one to your collection. That’s about to change with the upcoming launch of the new Monopoly: Pokemon Edition on December 20, as you can preorder the board game for just $25. That’s a surprisingly low price compared to other official Pokemon Monopoly editions, and it even comes with adorable figurines, making it one of the coolest versions of the game ever released.
Monopoly: Pokemon Edition
$25 | Releases December 20
This version of the board game puts a unique Pokemon-themed spin on the rules. Instead of buying and collecting property with Monopoly Money, players use Pokeballs to search for Pokemon on the various locations on the board. The goal is to catch eight types of Pokemon or be the last Trainer with any Poke Balls left in their inventory. Along with a colorful game board featuring locations from the series, you’ll get miniature figures of Pikachu, Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly.
Like all things Pokemon, Monopoly: Pokemon Edition is bound to be popular, so consider preordering while it’s still available. Preordering on Amazon makes you eligible for any price cuts between now and release, and you won’t need to pay until the item ships. With a release date of December 20, this could be a fun holiday gift.
Two other Pokemon Monopoly games are already available, but they’re only sold by third-party retailers. The Monopoly: Pokemon Kanto Edition is $45 and features metal tokens of the original Pokemon, while Monopoly: Pokemon Johto Edition is also $45 and features metal tokens of Pikachu, Totodile, Togepi, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Pichu.
