Starfield Patch Notes Detail Big Shattered Space DLC Update’s Changes

Bethesda has launched a substantial new update for Starfield today, coinciding with the release of Shattered Space, the game’s first paid expansion. The expansion costs $30 (or $27 with a Game Pass subscription), and it arrives alongside a free patch that offers a variety of improvements and fixes for all players, regardless of whether they purchase the DLC. Bethesda provided a detailed list of changes included in the update, as well as the expansion content.

Shattered Space introduces new quests, weapons, and items, and allows players to explore Va’Ruun’kai, home to the followers of the Great Serpent. Major sections of this world have been handcrafted, and the expansion includes survival-horror elements, with new enemies described as “stalking abominations.” Bethesda compares this expansion to previous add-ons for its Elder Scrolls and Fallout series, offering a contained story with distinct mechanics and new gameplay options.

The update also addresses multiple issues reported by players. Version 1.14.70 includes tweaks to several problematic quests, adjustments to the REV-8 land vehicle introduced in the previous update, and improvements to the ship-building system. Other fixes target the game’s user interface and audio. Bethesda also released PC specifications for Shattered Space, outlining the minimum and recommended requirements to ensure the expansion runs smoothly.
