The Super Mario Bros. Movie And More Are Leaving Netflix Soon

Ever since The Super Mario Bros. Movie arrived on Netflix, it’s had a steady place on the streamer’s list of the top 10 most popular movies. However, Mario’s time on Netflix is almost over as the streaming service will drop the film after October 2.

The good news, if you have Peacock, is that The Super Mario Bros. Movie will be going back to the Comcast-owned streamer on October 3. When the film hit theaters in 2023, it was a massive success with $574.9 million domestically and $1.36 billion worldwide. It is easily the highest-grossing video game movie of all time, and a sequel was announced last year. On this year’s Mario Day, Nintendo, Illumination, and Universal Pictures revealed that the release date for the sequel will be April 3, 2026.

Mario isn’t the only film packing its bags at Netflix. There are a lot of other fan-favorite titles exiting as well, including Crazy Rich Asians, It Follows, the first Hellboy movie, La La Land, Sonic the Hedgehog, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, and almost all of the Chucky films. Even the Comedy Central hit, Key & Peele, is departing Netflix, and that’s a sketch comedy series worth revisiting while you can.
