David Fincher’s Zodiac Is Releasing On 4K Blu-Ray For The First Time In October
One of David Fincher’s best films, Zodiac, is finally releasing on 4K Blu-ray. Based on the true story of one of America’s most infamous serial killers, Zodiac’s upcoming 4K Blu-ray edition is available to preorder at Amazon for $26. This is a fairly low price compared to many 4K movie releases these days, but if Amazon discounts Zodiac before your preorder ships, you’ll automatically get the lowest price offered. Originally released in 2007, the new 4K UHD version is slated for an October 29 release, just in time for anyone looking to watch an all-too real monster movie on Halloween. The release also comes with standard 1080p Blu-ray and digital versions.

If you’ve never watched it, the film is based on the true story of the Zodiac Killer and the intense manhunt to track him down. Zodiac features an all-star cast of actors like Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Jr. Fincher’s slow-burn film takes a methodical approach to telling the story of the infamous serial killer. Bolstered by excellent performances, Zodiac is utterly compelling and remains one of Fincher’s best films to this day.
While the real Zodiac killer was never caught or identified–although there are many, many theories around this infamous cold case–Fincher’s film does hint at who the murderer could have been before the end credits roll.
Special features for the 4K Blu-ray haven’t been revealed yet, but if it’s anything like the previous standard Blu-ray and DVD versions released, it’ll likely inherit the audio commentary tracks, behind-the-scenes documentaries, and a featurette on the Zodiac killer. It’s also not confirmed which cut of the film is on this Blu-ray, as there are both theatrical and director’s cut versions available.
Zodiac is based on Robert Graysmith’s brilliant account of the hunt for serial killer. If you’re interested in the Zodiac case, the book is available for only $9 at Amazon.
