Terminator Zero Anime Teaser Trailer Brings Judgment Day To Japan
On the big screen, the Terminator movies haven’t really explained what’s happening in the rest of the world during humanity’s future war with Skynet and the machines. But next month, Netflix’s anime series, Terminator Zero, will bring the action to Japan as the countdown to Judgment Day begins. And in the first teaser trailer for the series, a resistance solder named Eiko lays out the stakes for humanity.
Eiko is a young woman who has been sent back from an alternate version of 2022 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee, the man behind a potential Skynet rival. In 1997, with Judgment Day looming in the near future, Malcolm is haunted by visions of an apocalyptic wasteland that represents the end of humanity as we know it. Those visions turn out to be real when a Terminator arrives from the future to wipe out Malcolm and his three children.
Timothy Olyphant will provide the voice of the Terminator in the series, while Andre Holland co-stars as Malcolm. Sonoya Mizuno also stars as Eiko, with Rosario Dawson as the voice of Kokoro, Malcolm’s A.I. answer to Skynet. Additioally, Ann Dowd has a role as The Prophet, the “espirtitual and philosophical leader” of the Resistance in the future.
