Best Buy says AMD’s new Ryzen 300 AI laptops coming July 28th

When can you get your hands on laptops with AMD’s next-gen Ryzen chips inside? AMD is only saying “July.” Since it’s now, well, July, you can’t blame eager tech heads for wanting something a little more concrete. According to some early retail listings, the first Ryzen 300 AI laptops should be hitting shelves on July 28th.

That’s based on the Best Buy store page for the Asus Zenbook S 16 featuring a Ryzen AI 9 365 (ugh, what a mouthful) chip. The store pages were spotted by VideoCardz.com, and a Twitter user noted that the date has been bumped by a couple of weeks back from an initial estimate of July 15th. The Zenbook S16 is only one of nine Asus laptops expected to come with the new Ryzen chips, including other members of the Vivobook, ProArt, ROG, and TUF lines.

Take this info with some skepticism. It’s possible that Best Buy has very precise info on the launch date of these new laptops — the store is the biggest electronics retailer in the US, at least among the dinosaurs that still do primarily brick-and-mortar business.

But it’s also possible that this is just an estimate based on the usual supply chain casting of lots, especially since new product launches rarely occur on Sundays. Of course with Microsoft pushing hard on new Snapdragon-powered Surface gadgets, it’s in both AMD and Asus’ interest to get competitive laptops out as soon as they can.
