HBO’s Harry Potter TV Series Lands Succession Veterans As Showrunner And Director

Earlier this week, Warner Bros. Discovery revealed that the upcoming Harry Potter TV show is going to be produced as an HBO original series rather than staying exclusively on Max. Apparently, the show is also a little further along than previously reported, because HBO has now announced the primary creative team behind its take on Harry Potter.

Via Deadline, Succession consulting producer Francesca Gardiner will serve as the showrunner, writer, and an executive producer for Harry Potter. The report notes that Gardiner edged out screenwriters Tom Moran and Kathleen Jordan to land the gig. Another Succession veteran, Mark Mylod, has also signed on to executive produce and direct the series. Mylod has also helmed episodes of Game of Thrones, Amazing Stories, and is currently slated to direct four episodes of The Last of Us Season 2.
