For The First Time In A Decade, No One Is Working On Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt Red first announced that it was adapting Mike Pondsmith’s Cyberpunk in 2012, and the game had a lengthy development cycle that culminated in Cyberpunk 2077 getting delayed to 2020. Because the game launched with numerous bugs, Sony delisted Cyberpunk 2077 from the PlayStation Store for over six months while CD Projekt Red addressed the issues. But now, for the first time in a decade, no one at CD Projekt Red is working on Cyberpunk 2077.

The announcement came as part of CD Projekt’s latest earnings briefing, as CFO Piotr Nielubowicz released the company’s updated financial results for the first quarter of 2024. Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, was released last fall. Since then, one last major update for the game was released in December 2023.

On X, CD Projekt Red released a breakdown of its development team and its current projects. While Cyberpunk 2077 still had 17 developers at the end of February, it currently has none.
