New Pirates Of The Caribbean Movie Is A Reboot
The upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean movie is a reboot, series producer Jerry Bruckheimer has confirmed. Asked by ComicBook about the next Top Gun and Pirates movies, Bruckheimer said it’s “hard to tell” which franchise will return to screens first, and in the same response, he also confirmed the Pirates film will be a reboot of the franchise. Some wondered if the new film could be a follow-up to Dead Men Tell No Tales or some other extension of the series.
“You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know. Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant [Tom Cruise]. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can’t tell you. But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors.”
Earlier this year, it was reported that a follow-up to Top Gun: Maverick was in the works, which was no big surprise given the 2022 film earned about $1.5 billion globally.
