DC “Aren’t Interested” In Wonder Woman Movies For Now, Director Says

Director Patty Jenkins’ much-anticipated Star Wars project, Rogue Squadron, may be seeing new life after recent setbacks. Initially slated for a December 2023 release, the film was removed from Disney’s schedule in September 2022, sparking speculation about its future. However, Jenkins revealed in a recent interview on the Talking Pictures podcast that she’s once again engaged in developing the script for Rogue Squadron.

Jenkins, known for her work on the Wonder Woman franchise, explained that the revival of Rogue Squadron came about following the dissolution of her plans for Wonder Woman 3 at Warner Bros. and DC Studios. “When Wonder Woman 3 then went away, Lucasfilm and I were like ‘Oh, we’ve got to finish this deal.’,” Jenkins said (via Variety). Reflecting on her departure from Wonder Woman, Jenkins said, “They aren’t interested in doing any Wonder Woman for the time being… It’s not an easy task, with what’s going on with DC.” When Wonder Woman 3 collapsed in December 2022, Jenkins wrote in a post on Twitter, “I never walked away… I was open to considering anything asked of me. It was my understanding there was nothing I could do to move anything forward at this time. DC is obviously buried in changes they are having to make, so I understand these decisions are difficult right now.”
